How to See Your Turnitin Report on Blackboard
On Blackboard, your similarity report sits on your submission. Click the assignment, open your submission, and select the similarity score to open the full report. Blackboard has two tools that produce one: Turnitin and Blackboard's own SafeAssign. Here is how to find yours in both Blackboard Ultra and Blackboard Original.
Turnitin or SafeAssign?
Many students searching for a "Blackboard similarity report" actually have a SafeAssign report. They look different:
| Turnitin | SafeAssign | |
|---|---|---|
| Made by | Turnitin | Blackboard (Anthology) |
| Report name | Similarity Report | Originality Report |
| AI writing report | Yes, if your institution has it, usually instructor-only | No Turnitin AI score |
| Where you see it | Opens Turnitin's report viewer | Opens inside Blackboard |
If your report says "SafeAssign" anywhere, the score is not a Turnitin score, and a Turnitin check may give a different number.
Blackboard Ultra: how to see your Turnitin report
- Open your course and go to Course Content.
- Select the Turnitin assignment.
- Open your submission. The similarity percentage appears beside it once the report is ready.
- Select the percentage to open the full report in Turnitin's viewer.
Blackboard Original: how to see your Turnitin report
- Open your course and go to the content area with the assignment, or to My Grades.
- Click the assignment, then View or View Digital Receipt.
- Click the similarity percentage to open the report.
Menus vary between universities because each one configures Turnitin differently. If your screens look different, look for a percentage or coloured icon next to your file.
Report not showing on Blackboard?
- No percentage: your instructor may have hidden reports from students or set them to appear after the due date.
- Pending: the report is still processing. See how long Turnitin takes.
- Blank viewer: allow pop-ups and third-party cookies, then try again.
- No AI score: normal. The AI writing report is usually instructor-only.
More fixes: Turnitin report pending or not available.
What the Turnitin report looks like when it opens
Both screenshots below come from the same 24-page, 6,364-word paper. The similarity report found 1% overall similarity. The AI writing report flagged 51% of the qualifying text as likely AI-generated. Tap either one to see it full size.
