Austrian students writing in German used to be outside the reach of Turnitin's AI detector. Since Turnitin added German on 6 October 2026, a Seminararbeit, Bachelorarbeit or Masterarbeit can receive an AI score as well as a similarity report.

BOKU University and Turnitin
At BOKU (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna), Turnitin is a service for teachers, not students. Teachers sign in at BOKU's own Turnitin web app with their BOKU account, upload files into folders and read the similarity percentage for each one, or use Turnitin through the BOKUlearn assignment module. The web app's interface is German only. Students with questions about study-law rules are directed to BOKU's Study Services. Because students cannot run their own check through BOKU, a pre-check is the only way to see your score before your teacher does.
