How to Download an AI Report From Turnitin

The Turnitin AI writing report downloads as its own PDF, separate from the similarity report. Instructors can download it from the report viewer. Students usually cannot, because they cannot open the AI report in the first place. Here is how each route works.

How the AI report is generated

You do not generate an AI report by pressing a button. Turnitin creates it automatically when:

The institution has AI writing detection enabled.
The file has at least 300 words of long-form prose and no more than 30,000 words.
The file is .docx, .pdf, .txt or .rtf.
The text is in a supported language: English, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, German, Dutch or Turkish.

If any of these is missing, the AI indicator shows grey or no score.

Instructors: how to download the AI report

Open the submission in Turnitin.
Click the AI writing indicator to open the AI Writing Report in a new tab.
Use the download icon in the report viewer to save it as a PDF.

The PDF opens with the same cover page as the similarity report, followed by the AI Writing Overview and the full paper with highlights.
