Turnitin AI Report Checker in Ireland: Pre-Submission AI and Similarity Checks
Irish higher education is taking AI misuse seriously. An Irish Examiner investigation published in December 2025 found at least 416 suspected cases of students using AI to gain an advantage across Irish institutions. If you study in Ireland, checking your own Turnitin AI report before submission is a sensible precaution.

How Turnitin fits in
Turnitin is widely used across Irish universities and technological universities for similarity checking, usually through Moodle, Brightspace or Blackboard. AI detection settings vary by institution, and where the indicator is on it is typically visible to staff only. Institutional policies, and national academic integrity work coordinated with QQI, emphasise that detector output needs human judgement.
Who should run a check
- Undergraduates submitting continuous assessment essays.
- Taught master's students writing dissertations up to 30,000 words.
- International students writing in English as an additional language.
- Irish-medium learners writing English submissions. Irish (Gaeilge) itself is not among Turnitin's supported AI detection languages as of October 2026.
